Welcome to GHAMUN 2012!

SG's

Honorable delegates, esteemed directors, staff members, friends of GHAMUN,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the VIII annual Ghana Model United Nations conference hosted by Lincoln Community School in Accra, Ghana. The conference will be held from Thursday, February 9th, to Saturday, February 11th, 2012 at the renowned Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.

GHAMUN was formed in 2004 to promote harmony and understanding of global issues among youth, so they may take the first steps towards a unified future. In the past, the creativity of participants and their genuine concern for issues sets GHAMUN apart from other MUN conferences around the world. Delegates discuss matters of the world and as they seek solutions to economic recessions in Europe or uprisings in the Middle East. Observers of the GHAMUN conferences in the past note that the delegates at the GHAMUN conference are independent, resourceful, passionate and mature young future leaders.

The VIII annual conference aims to promote multilateral diplomacy through strategic discussion on current events.
The debates will increase the capacity for students to engage in activities of problem solving, conflict resolution, compromise and cooperation, research and communication, and creates the opportunity for delegates to meet new people and make new friends during their cultural excursion in Ghana.

Our conference is a product of multiculturalism, as the Lincoln Community School is home to students from over 60 countries around the world. The delegates will represent over 120 countries acknowledged by the UN in our five committees: Security Council, Development & Trade Council, Disarmament Committee, Human Rights Committee and the Economic and Social Council. Our conference is distinguished by prominent guest speakers, state of the art facilities and the opportunity for international delegates to explore Ghana’s rich culture through planned visits to the historical slave-trade castles, and remote rainforests of Ghana.

We are eagerly anticipating the opening ceremony of our VIII conference as preparations are in place for what is to be an unforgettable experience. GHAMUN is internationally recognized as the most respected conference of its kind in West Africa, and we hope to build upon this reputation this February.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us; our leadership team are ready and more than happy to provide answers to your inquiries. On behalf of the GHAMUN conference secretariat, and Lincoln Community School, we look forward to welcoming your delegation this February!
Sincerely,

Biruk Terrefe
